I’ve submitted “Four Minutes” to (in order) Lightspeed, Clarkesworld, and now Daily Science Fiction. I’m hopeful for Daily Science Fiction, as the story is short and seems to fit their style. It also got an ‘OMG I love this’ from my first reader, so I’m hopeful it’s my best story yet. 🙂
Desperate Upload was rejected at Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show, and because some of the critiques I got from Critters wouldn’t stay out of my head I did a little revising on it. Ran it by my first reader and just waiting for him to get back to me and I’ll put it back into circulation.
I’ve started working on the story that will be my third quarter entry in Writers of the Future. So far I’m only about 350 words in, so I have a long way to go, but I’m hoping to have it done around the start of the third quarter (which is April 1st), so I can submit it early.
After that, though, I think I want to start working on my first novel. Novel writing takes a whole different skill-set than short stories, and I want to start working on those skills. If I’m ever going to make a living from my writing, novels will be the way to go. I’ll still work on my Writers of the Future entries every quarter, but other than that I want to put all my energy into the novel.
That’s it for now!
